On the Summit of Bolza Mount
...in the heart of the massif.
Description
It does not seem a significant peak but, as often happens, the lesser known peaks give us some nice surprises. The top of M. Bolza dominates Castel del Monte in an absolutely unique position in the middle of the Gran Sasso Massif. The ascending is not very long but quite steep. The Top of M. Bolza is just over 1900m but, once in the ridge, the 360° view is astonishing. Below us the great upland of Campo Imperatore, in front of us all the highest peaks of the Gran Sasso massif and all around all the peaks of Abruzzo. Our tour comes down in Val Valianara known as the "canyon" of Campo Imperatore.
