Rock Alpinism Advanced
Description

This course is aimed at those who have already attended the basic course or at people with previous experiences on Alpine itineraries, with good familiarity with rope maneuvers and roped parties. Decent climbing technique and good phyisical training are advisable.
Decent climbing technique and good phyisical training are advisable. We will enrich the rudiments given during the basic course, adding the notions for self-rescuing and for setting up safety stops (nuts, friends, and so on), as to make you able to approach Alpine itinerary as team leader.

Topics

  • materials and safety (anchors on rock, stops, first and second rope insurance on multi-pitch routes on icefalls, management of the rope and the ascent)
  • objective and subjective hazards and risk minimization.

Equipment

Harness, climbing shoes, 4 ring-type carabiners, PETZL-type descender “mod. Reverso”, mountaineering helmet, two 120 cm webbing, one 80 cm accessory cord in Kevlar®, set of nuts, and some friends.

Clothing

  • Sunglasses for high mountain / glacier
  • Buff – Foulard
  • Fiber turtleneck sweater
  • Windstopper or fleece jacket
  • Waterproof jacket (ex: Gore-tex, pac-lite, conduit…)
  • Mountain pants in schoeller

Inside the backpack

  • One fiber T-shirt
  • A pair of mountain socks
  • A headlamp with new batteries
  • Personal pharmacy kit (compeed patch, aspirin, high protection sunscreen, ...)
  • Camera
  • 1 lt bottle or Thermos
  • Paper towels
  • Multi-purpose pocket knife

NOTES the cost includes the guide fee and the use of the common material (ropes, referrals, etc), any room and board are not included.
Any missing material may be provided by Mountain Evolution.
The Course demands for a minimum number of participants, otherwise the program will be canceled or performed with the integration of the fee from the members.
