The Voltigno’s plateau is a beautiful karst plateau surrounded by beech woods where in spring the melting snow forms small lakes. Very interesting are the sinkholes where the water disappears underground. Situated at 1500m on the southern slopes of the Gran Sasso chain is a particular environment with several blooms at different times of the spring. During early spring spectacular the blooms of Crocus and Snowdrop. We will make a round trip starting going up in the direction of M. Meta then descend into the plateau and cross it. The return will be made through the majestic beech forest of Valle Caterina.
